WESLEY HOSPITAL - EDUCATION
This month's Grand Rounds at The Wesley was presented by Sally Callie on the topic of "Young Stroke And The Potential For Recovery With An Olympic Mindset". The session was well attended with over 70 students, VMO, interns and hospital staff filling up the Auditorium, which shows that patient education can draw a crowd!
Sally’ spoke of her journey of recovery and how she used all she had learned as an athlete, working closely with teammates, coaches and administrators for success in the sport, and then how she worked with her new team of surgeons, nurses, physios and OT’s for recovery.
Sally now is a motivator for patients in similar circumstances, educating them to implement visualisation and accountability into their respective recovery journeys. Her personal experiences and insights also serve to give medical professionals unique insights into how best to treat patients at each stage of their recovery for the best possible outcomes.
